Data license & disclaimer

The terms that come with the data.

Plainly: the data is 100% synthetic and contains no PHI, you may use it across your organization for analytics, development, research, and testing, you may not resell it or use it for real-world clinical, regulatory, or production decisions, and it does not represent reality on a one-to-one basis.

ImportantSynthetic data, not real data

Verisim datasets are simulated. They are built to look and behave like a real book of business in aggregate, but no record represents a real person, claim, or event, and the data is not suitable for any decision affecting real individuals.

1. The data is synthetic

Every Verisim Health dataset is computer-generated. It contains no real patients, no protected health information (PHI), and no records derived from any actual individual, provider, health plan, claim, or event. It is statistically calibrated to published, aggregate benchmarks (for example CMS and MedPAC figures), but it is a model of a population, not a copy of one.

Because it is simulated, the data does not represent reality on a one-to-one basis. No member, claim, diagnosis, lab result, payment, or dollar figure corresponds to a real person or a real transaction. Aggregate statistics are designed to be realistic; any individual record is illustrative only.

2. License granted

Subject to these terms, Verisim Health grants your organization a non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to use the dataset you obtain for internal purposes: analytics, benchmarking, research, model development and validation, software development, testing, and product demonstrations. The license covers everyone within your organization. There are no per-seat fees.

3. Permitted uses

Build and validate models (risk adjustment, cost and utilization prediction, quality and gap closure). Benchmark a population or methodology. Prototype, develop, test, and demonstrate software and analytics. Train and educate teams. Stress-test pipelines and assumptions. Use it in client or customer work, provided the dataset itself is not redistributed.

4. Prohibited uses

You may not resell, sublicense, publish, or otherwise redistribute the dataset, in whole or in part, to any third party. You may not represent the data as real, de-identified, or derived from real patients or claims.

You may not use the data for any decision affecting a real individual or a real-world operation. This includes, without limitation, clinical or patient-care decisions, treatment, diagnosis, regulatory or government filings, actuarial rate setting, bid pricing or premium setting, claims adjudication or payment, eligibility determinations, or any other production or operational decision. The data is for analytics, development, research, and testing only.

5. No warranty

The data is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or completeness. Calibration to published benchmarks is a goal, not a guarantee, and fidelity for any specific use case is your responsibility to evaluate. The free sample exists so you can judge that fitness before you rely on the data.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Verisim Health is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any decision, model, or outcome based on the data. Total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the dataset at issue.

7. Acceptance

Downloading or using a Verisim Health dataset means you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms on behalf of yourself and your organization. If you do not agree, do not download or use the data.
